How much should I pay my new cleaning staff?

If you need good staff members to help you grow your business, you need to pay attention to what you are paying them! Or what you are offering to pay them!

If you are offering to pay them 'what you can afford', you might as well be attracting staff that have no work ethics, are lazy and are not really into cleaning!

So, Ilze, what is wrong with that?

You see, I was at this point. I started my cleaning business, and 1 month later I needed staff! I used to be a bakery manager and thought I knew everything I needed to know about staff, but boy, oh boy, was I wrong!

I was sooo good with my standards, and for me, it was the way I cleaned, but my customers were amazed and raving about me as they had never seen things as clean as they were! BUT at the time, I was charging £10 per hour, trying to employ staff at minimum wage, and I went through about 30 people that were useless. I was letting my customers down, and they started being annoyed with me. I was feeling sooo guilty because I was letting them down. You see, I was "I thought" good money, but I didn't know what to pay, what to charge (because I was crippled by fear to raise my prices because I couldn't afford to lose customers), and at that point, I was getting loads of customers by word of mouth only!

I was stuck on 1 step forward and ten steps back. The stress was driving me mad because I was working all the hours under the sun, which meant I was so stressed and guilty because I wasn't spending enough time with my daughter or husband, and my house was a constant mess....

I am sure you know how I felt until one day I changed what I said in my adverts and decided to offer more. I had nothing to lose, but I was desperate! After a while, I started noticing a difference.

Six months later, I was scrub free and charging up to £50 per hour. That's when I fell back in love with my business, and that is what I want to help you do!
